DAY 7

Up early and off through the 'Forbidden Zone' towards Luderitz.

First stop is Kolmanskop, an abandoned diamond mining town reclaimed in part by sand dunes.

After lunch we wander around Luderitz and pay a visit to 'Goerke Haus'.

We went out to Diaz Point later.

We headed back to Aus and our campsite in the evening. I went on a hike alone to get some more sunset views in.

CAMPFIRE

CAMPFIRE
Night time in the desert is very cold, it's a stark difference to the heat of the day. The night sky is beautifully lit up with countless stars. Well wrapped and drinking tea around the fire it was easy to while away a few hours staring up.

VIEW OVER CAMP & BEYOND

VIEW OVER CAMP & BEYOND
Myself and Alvina climbed a big rock outcrop to watch sunset. Our campsite is in the foreground and just over the hill beyond is the 'Forbidden Zone'. Diamonds are found here and therefore no one is allowed.

Pitched tents at Klein Aus Vista. Alvina and myself climbed a big rock to watch sunset over the desert.

Temperature dropped dramatically from the heat of the day. Beautiful view of the stars though.

FISH RIVER CANYON 2

FISH RIVER CANYON 2
Another view. The canyon is in the middle of a desolate desert. It's extremely hot at the top but nothing compared to the temperature's at the bottom.

The highlight of the day was the trip to Fish River Canyon. A spectacular view, photo taken by Tom.

We stopped at a resort for fuel and food. It had interesting toilet's inside and a couple of rusting vehicles lying around outside.
